Default Sold a PS3 for Best Buy the other day

I was looking at PS3 games and some random dude asked me about the PS3. Actually I was wearing generic corporate garb, dockers and a blue short sleeved shirt, so he tought I was an employee. Told him I wasn't an employee but he wanted advice on PS3 anyway. He informed me that he had the old X-Box.

I started out by asking what he was interested in. He said he was an avid gamer and was interested in HD but didn't yet have an HD TV but planned on getting one soon. I pointed out the advantages of the built-in blu-ray player and the superiority of blu-ray over HD-DVD... given the studio support he thought blu-ray was the clear choice. Once you get that far the rest is easy given the cost of buying a blu-ray player separately; Didn't even have to argue about the costs of the 360 add-on.

I asked further about wireless capabilities and having a built-in hard drive, etc. Seemed he thought all of those were requirements too so we compared PS3 to 360 Elite. Once you realize how close those are in price, the blu-ray player makes it a slam dunk.

He picked up a box and thanks me... they should pay me commission. I was surprised how easy it sells itself.

the person has to be willing to shell out the money 1st, then the rest is exactly what you said "a slam dunk"...

if someone is going for a 360 elite...they might as well get a PS3 if this is what they are interested in..

Hmmm when I think about it, I just upgraded to a 360 elite because my old 360 died, thought HDMI would make it much better but it didn't!! 120 gigs is worthless once I lost all my previous data. paid $480 + $200 (HD-DVD add-on) which is more expensive then the PS3 and PS3 is superior in every way. I compared VT 3 on both consoles, PS3 version is better. 360 isn't a console meant to be played on 1080p.

You forgot the $200-$250 on-line will cost anyone over the life of their 360 as well...and because of the design decisions you aren't going to see 40 player on-line anytime soon..while the PS3 is just getting started.

Tell your friends and family why they should buy a PS3 instead. Friends don't let friends buy a 360

For BD playback the PS3 makes sense but not for games or movie downloads.

Why not? The games will beat 360 in time. The processor simply has too much power and developers aren't there yet. No way 360 games are on par in a couple more years. You are shortsighted. And the movie downloads comment makes no sense to me.

360 games aren't par to PS3 games right now. I went back playing my 360 and games just don't impress me like they do on the PS3 especially games running in 1080p @ 60fps. what really annoys me about 360 graphics is there's a lot of tearing everywhere and within the 360's interface.
