i'm not a big fan of the Star Wars franchise but i was wondering which studio owns it and if it will be released exclusively on Blu-ray. I think if it was there would be a huge spike on Blu-ray sales.

just wondering...

I think Lucas just announced a day or two ago that they arent even considering either format right now, officially.

its been long said that Lucas wants to wait for a clear winner, and people are expecting a 5-6year wait, much like we had to wait for the DVDs

Fox was the distributer of the six movies, so if Lucas was to release it now, it would be blu-ray exclusive. But I think he's waiting to see what format wins out before he decides to milk his saga. To paraphrase Field Of Dreams, If he milks it, we will come and buy it.

yet another thread about the vaunted Star Wars Saga coming to High Definition, It will be on Blu-Ray in about 10 years, right before the next format comes out. in other words, whenever the hell George Lucas damn well feels like it.

Cool

personally I'd rather see the LOTR series on blu-ray. they're so well done to begin with the BD version would be top notch and this hidef format war would be over!!

George Lucas is a money grubbing bastard. Look at how many times it's been released already on dvd. Now there's talk of a gift set with all six movies coming out for the holiday's. As if he doesn't have enough of our money already. I'm willing to bet that Indiana Jones comes out before they do. Another trilogy I'd like to see on Blu-Ray is Back To The Future. That and Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and Tron.
