Default Help with Pioneer VSX 92-TXH

I posted this on AVS forums also, supposed to have a movie night tonight and I just unhooked my marantz amp hoping to use the new 92-TXH I just picked up but so far no audio from dvd!

Ugh, it's deja vu all over again...

I am trying to get this amp set up. I have speakers hooked up and got sound ok through 2 channel inputs from vcr. I connected HDMI cable from Samsung BD player 2500 to the HDMI1 input on Amp.

Can not get any audio.

I'm trying to go back to square one with the manual and go through the setup.
Some issues there: They tell you to use component cables, no mention of HDMI until later in the manual. I also can't see the onscreen setup, I have not hooked my projector to the amp, and I had not planned to.

I currently have component out from the BD player to the projector and HDMI to the amp. Should this work? Am I just missing the magic button I need to press? I have cycled inputs and selected HDMI as source, but no luck thus far. Also the previous owner has some inputs set up that maybe I should undo if I can.

I thought HDMI was supposed to be easy!

Again, I am going to be going through the manual but thought I better put a post up asap just in case I can't figure it out on my own!!

Thanks for any suggestions

Note: I bought a name brand HDMI cable that is 3 feet long.

I have also tried both bitstream and PCM. I'm trying to use PCM currently.
I am not currently using a blu-ray disc, just a SD disc of LOTR to try and get audio to come through.

Its been awile since I hooked up mine. Did you associate the HDMI input with DVD/LD. If not make sure you are on the HDMI 1,2 or 3.input or you wouldnt get sound.

Are you trying to send the video via component and the audio via HDMI?

Crisis averted!

I think I have it now...

I did get in to the setup menus (had to push RECEIVER before going in to setup.. duh.. although why not just let me go in there anyways?!)

It seems it doesn't like it if you turn COMP and HDMI on. I guess that makes sense now but I had hooked COMP up in and out of amp. Now I have component running straight to projector and HDMI to amp. That is what I had before but it would not auto-select. Once in the menu I finally set it to HDMI (and turned COMP off).

Now it shows DTS-HD MSTR!

I now realized I don't have the movie I was planning to screen!
Doh! Thought I had it on netflix but I never sent the other one back.
Change of plans!

Thanks for the help!
