In Windows Media Player 11:

(tap the 'alt' key if you don't know how to bring up the toolbar at the top)

'Tools' > 'Options...'

'Library' Tab > 'Configure Sharing...' button

In the popup Media Sharing window an 'Unknown Device' (your PS3) should be listed, click it and then click 'Allow'. 'Settings' and 'Customize...' will allow you to choose specifically what you want to share with the PS3.

If 'Unknown Device' isn't listed, in the PS3 Xross Media Bar select 'Search for Media Servers' in Photo, Music or Video. This may get communication going between the two.
Please also check the countless other threads about the new 1.8 firmware. The Search function may also be useful.
