HDMI 1.3 in itself is not important. It is a means to an end.

For a TV that would be to have xvYCC (expanded gamut) and/or deep colour (higher colour resolution) support. HDMI 1.3 allows the delivery of deep colour, and supports the meta tag for xvYYC.

It's up to you to research what you're buying before you buy it. It's not Sony's fault if you didn't do that.

I agree, don't blame a company for your lack of research. They publish all specs.

Uh... Maybe. I went looking at both Amazon and company websites. While they do state they have HDMI connections, they usually do not list whether it is HDMI 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3...

My Panasonic has a DVI hook-up, and I had a cable, so I bought the HDMI to DVI adapter and it works great.

HDMI and DVI are basically the same for video. HDMI just carries sound too.

To be honest, unless you're using HDMI for multi channel lossless audio, does it matter if your TV doesn't have HDMI 1.3?
