Default Computer sub used as secondary

I've brought this up in other threads, and finally got the means to hook this up: I have had a Harmon Kardon computer speaker system for years, and haven't had it hooked up for quite awhile. After re-discovering it when digging through some storage, I got the idea of hooking it up to my home theater system. The sub is only a 6" woofer, down firing, with a forward port. Takes up a fairly small footprint, but from what I had remembered, the sub kicked a fair amount of booty. So today I picked up a RCA splitter from Radioshack, and the adventure started from that. After a couple hours of moving it around the room, and trying to dial it in with the attached satellite speaker (the only way to control it), I found the complete opposite corner of my 12" sub to be the best spot for the 6". It seems funny that it is a 6" woofer, but strange thing is that my lows seem to be even lower, and hit even harder. I'm still trying to find the perfect volume balance, but so far so nice Just finished watching SpiderMan 2.1, and some of the scenes just shook my room, but then then also hit the perfect bass to be precise and clear, without being muddy. I'm wondering if I could put a bass trap right on top of this sub to make any difference at all considering it is down firing, and in a corner? Advice would be great...no I don't have an SPL meter yet. Setup still crude yet, notice all the knocked down candles!!!
