Default One more day

It's out of the box and fully broken in, but my Panasonic Plasma (65" 850U type) has been leaning up against the cedar chest staring at me, begging to be watched for the past month and a half. I previously had no safe way to raise it up for viewing; that all ends tomorrow morning.

The heavy duty wall mount arrived and I already unpacked it. They almost told me was cancelled when I called yesterday to check on it ; turned out that was just a glitch in the system caused by a coupon I used.

Sometime between 8 and 10 tomorrow, the hired team of installers will stop in and get it on the wall. After that, I'm a take a break from my usual Saturday exam studies to watch lots of movies on my new toy. I've been planning this day forever, but something about having the TV but being unable to use it for over a month has been particularly irritating.

My collection is here on blu-ray.com community and in my sig. Any thoughts on what I should watch first?

I would watch 3:10 to Yuma and Crank for sure...both look awesome in very different ways. 3:10 was the first movie I watched on my new Samusung and it was awesome.

I have had my 65PZ850U up and running for the last ten days and it is one amazing display. I can't imagine what it will look like once I get it over 100 hours and get it calibrated. I finally got my Sony BDP550 set up with HDMI connection and 1080/24 and watched Horton and Surf's Up and I think my mouth hung open the whole time. Madagascar 2 was quite stunning. I've been watching a Toshiba 65 inch RPTV over component for the past six years that had a great picture after calibration and the blacks on that set were great. The Panny obviously doesn't have the same punch but they are still very close. Great contrast and the image is razor sharp. There is even a dramatic improvement in my cable HD. The NCAA games look great even at the reduced settings. I looked at a number of displays and did my research and glad I got this one. That's my two cents since I've been watching this set and for me, it's a real winner.

They just delayed me another week. Team arrives, starts to work, then tells me that my wall studs are too far apart for this mount.

I had to bring the old one back and switch it for a cheaper but less mobile mount; and I had to order an adjustment piece so it will fit the Panasonic TV. Parts arrive Thursday; team comes back Friday.

You'd think that if they needed 5 weeks to special order something that someone would think to tell me I should check my walls during the interim. I could've had this thing ready over a month ago.

Well, sorry to hear that. Once you get it put up you should watch Blade Runner. That movie gets better every time the screen get bigger.

We are up on the wall and running!

I watched Dark Knight as my first test of the TV, and it was downright phenomenal! I picked the right TV, and I'm all set to watch plenty more films tomorrow.

I actually f-ed up watching it; I was holding back on movies while waiting for the TV, and it had been so long since I watched one that I totally forgot to check the sound settings (and switch it to TrueHD). Well, hopefully no more making that mistake; I got a Pioneer receiver that begs for lossless.

One more day for me as well. My TV stand/cabinet is delivered tomorrow & my Pioneer 111FD will be mounted on it. Have been breaking it in with the color slide show for the past month, with an occasional DVD watched. I have a calibration by a pro scheduled for mid May.
