Default Gattaca...Amazing....No?

I just finished watching this movie, and wow. I was shockingly surprised at how much I liked it.

The PQ was awesome, but I thought the AQ was lacking a bit. Dialogue was a little weak I thought.

This movie was a blind buy for me from tuesday, and I was overly pleased with it. Extremely interesting storyline and idea. Acting performances were phenomenal. Especially Jude Law, he didnt have a huge huge role, but I thought it was performed flawlessly.

Anyone else enjoying this movie as much as I am? From it being a blind buy or cult favorite?

..and yes, i already posted this in the other movie section, but this one seemed more fitting. my.....bad

I have not watched this movie in year, but it is a very good Sci Fi film. Great to hear your opinion of the PQ as this title is on its way to my home.

I remember thinking "hmm that was a pretty good movie" but the last time I saw it was when it first hit DVD...... and I don't own it on DVD, and I can't figure out why not.... maybe I wasn't that impressed, hard to tell. I might "Blind Buy" a film I've already seen!! I just can't remember this one!

Watched it last night. The picture quality was great. I love the movie in general so i am biased but the audio was lacking. Especially for a Dolby True HD soundtrack. But the ending when the rocket goes up shook my doors off.

Gattaca is one of my favourite movies, I'm hoping it will get a UK release fairly soon.

100% agree with you.

The majority of the movie, the main audio focus was dialog. a good 90% of the movie is speaking roles and lines. With that being said, I think the Dolby True HD track could have brought a little more life to voices and made them a bit more prominent.

But the space ship taking off at the end was indeed wall shaking

I like this movie, I first saw it on DVD, it must have been 10 years ago. This is one of those SciFi movies that make you think, it is like a drama set in a scifi movie. I have to say, I have seen it, and even if gotten on BD I would not wach it again. There are movies I can watch over and over, and those I cannot. Don't get me wrong, it is excellent, but once you know the ending, there is not much to revisit.

I used to live right near the building where they filmed this. The headquarters they used was the Marin Civic Center in San Rafael, CA. It's a Frank Lloyd Wright design.

The movie is great. Extremely well done. The acting is superb.

"I never saved anything for the swim back"

I love the ending too. Buying this once I'm not so broke.

Well, after reading this thread, I think you all have set me over the edge; I'm going out to buy it. It is a great movie that I don't think I've seen since it came out in theaters. So I'm looking forward to checking it out on my system.

This is way better than Dogma. However it isn't for everyone. Gattaca is intellectual sci-fi that moves kind of slow. In truth, it isn't really sci-fi but a drama that uses sci-fi as a plot vehicle. It ain't Star Wars.

Incredible movie - really made me question a lot of things when it came out.
BTW - how are the special features, I remember on the standard DVD release there's a blooper/outtake reel where the doctor chugs a urine sample - it was hilarious!
