Default Super Hi-Vision... Any thoughts ??

The BBC also appears to be interested in the technology. During IBC 2008 Japan's NHK, Italy's RAI and the BBC (with various partners) demonstrated the first ever public live transmission of Super Hi-Vision, from London to the conference site in Amsterdam.

In addition it was demonstrated at the BBC's Media Centre in West London in early October, 2008.

The BBC has been looking into the use of its Dirac codec with Super Hi-Vision.

Who is Super Hi-Vision geared toward any way,The IMAX. No way this is going to be a threat to Blu-ray in the next, oh say, 10-15 maybe even years. John or Jane doe won't have the money or use for this. I mean most people I know still have not gotten into Blu ray they still think there 480i or 480p DVD's are good enough. Little do they know.

I seem to remember that the very first screen-testing in Japan with a panel of people of various age, gendre and background wasn't the smashing success they hoped for:
half of the room (especially the elderly) had to run out to vomit, because the images were too detailed and had a 3D-effect that was too strong, causing motion sickness with most them. I think there was even one case of a person going into epileptic shock.

Perhaps they've been able to solve that problem by now but in the beginning, it was just too real for their own good.

Maybe they moved to camera too much? If the screen is really big, and ultra-high definitioned (7680x4320), there would be no need to be moving the camera as much as they do nowadays. Especially if they used a 180 degree curved screen like OLED - and the cameras had the appropriate lenses.
