Ontario Canada Residents: Electronic Waste Fee to be Implemented!

Effective April 1, 2009 there will be an a "Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment Fee. See link to website for complete details!

These fees will be included in the purchase price of the affected goods. Retailers may choose to identify the fees on a seperate line, but will probably not. Costco Wholesale will itemize the fee on each transaction, so it's members will be aware what the exact fee is.

Here is a list of the WEEE fees to be charged:

Desktop Computers - $13.44
Portable Computers - $2.14
Computer Peripherals (Mice, keyboards, single hard drives, optical drives) - $0.32
Monitors - $12.03
Televisions - $10.07
Printing Devices - $5.05

I suspect that this program will be phased in to include other electronic devices over time.
