I want to have computer and watch satellite at the same time. Satellite box is hooked up with HDMI. What are the different ways I can hook the computer up? Monitor cables, s-video, monitor cable to component, etc?

the first part of the question I'm confused about. You want to watch satellite and have the computer hooked up at the same time?...or use both simultaneously? If your just looking to hook up a computer, you first of all need to access what your video card output plugs look like. Chances are if you have a newer computer, you may have at least a DVI output. If so, you could then go with a cable that is DVI to HDMI, then running into your tv. You could also just get a DVI to HDMI adaptor if you already have an HDMI cable laying around. Otherwise there is S-video and component video, but the best will be from my previously mentioned. If these suggestions don't work for you, it wouldn't be a bad idea to do some upgrading for your computer. You could get a tv card for your PC, and then input the video signal from your satellite box into your PC, and then run the PC to your tv. Most Home Theater Personnal Computers, or HTPC now operate as a DVR, or Digital Video Recorder device. If you can get more specific, I can do the same.

I'm sorry about the confusion.
What I'm trying to do is use picture in picture. One half will be the computer, the other half will be the satellite. I've got the computer hooked up with a monitor cable and the satellite with an hdmi cable. My computer doesn't have a DVI input on the back. |

PIP with computer and ST?....I really don't know about that, but I guess why you would want that in the first place? You can have both running no problem, and switch between the both of them....buy why would you want PIP with your setup? Unless someone else can verify, I don't think it's possible with what your explaining. Only way I can think of is if you get a second video card, and run each card seperately into your tv.

But I am not sure it is possible even to piggy-back the signals to get PIP. |

Most computers would be hooked up via a computer cable or HDMI. It depends on what is on your computer, and what type of inputs you have on your TV. |
