Default DTS or downmix PCM??

I am just setting up my blu ray (Sony BDP S2000ES) and don't know if to select DTS or downmix PCM.

What is the difference?

I'm trying to have the player decode HD audio as my older receiver cannot (no HDMI, either). Have to rely on 6 analog cables.

well, I have the S300 an it only decodes TrueHD and output via HDMI, unfortunately not analog I am not sure about yours.

You pretty much should set everything to PCM downmix. You will get full benefit of 'Uncompressed PCM' audio tracks though.

I asked the same thing about two days ago.

That setting only affects the optical/coax outputs. If your receiver has a DTS decoder, set it to DTS. If not, set it to downmix PCM. See p47 of the manual. But, again, this should not matter for analog output.

Downmixed PCM should be 2-channel. DTS will be 5.1.
