Default Walmart now offers a 1080P display under $1000.

Walmart now offers a 1080P display under $1000. This is a good bargain for someone that wants the cheapest 1080P. Important note the contrast ratios on this 37” Akai is terrible, but for under $1,000 this will attract the average consumer.

You've been able to find 37" 1080P displays under $1k for a while now from places like Newegg for one.
I got a 37" Westing house from them a couple of months ago. I wouldn't use it as my primary viewing display but it looks great for a 1080P game system, or PC monitot. Although I just use it to watch HDTV while I'm on my PC. so it's perfect for me, although the 42" version was only a little more, I probably should have purchased that one. These sets always seem smaller after watching them for a few weeks.

I think he meant wal-mart now offers 1080p TV's in their stores, cause before they only had 1080i HDTVs. Or am I wrong? o.o

They've had them in their stores before, depending on which store you visit. I have 3 stores I visit in my area and they all have some different items. at least one of them has had a 1080P display earlier this year but I don't know what brand it was. Plus everything fluctuates at Walmart. They might have a certain TV one month and the next month it's gone and they won't get anymore for 6 months.

The best deal i come accross so far over here in the UK has to be the
KDS-55A2000 for just under a grand at £999.99 and with it's amazing 1080p, 10 000:1 CR and 2 1080p HDMI capable ports, this is a great TV.

BUT WAIT, theres more......

Er, bought nearly $2000. But over here it's a pretty good deal i think.

It's just a shame i don't have a clue how a US imported TV would work over here in the UK properly as you would get a much better TV at like half the price.

That's awesome. My TV only has a Contrast Ratio of 1200:1 and 1 HDMI port but it still looks nice to me. Paid a little over $2k for it with 4 year warranty. Oh well, I don't think I'm going to buy another TV until the HD era is over. (which wont be anytime soon).

I want to buy a 70" SXRD sony is doing which is under £4 000, depending where you look, the KDS-70R2000. same as the 55" i mentioned but with a
70" screen.

Kinda seems i'd have to win the lotto to buy that considering i'm only 17 but thats a dream TV that is actually more ownable than that HDMI 1.3 70" LCD sony is introducing in Summer in the states up for 33k.

OH, well, heres to dreaming.

A 50"+ OLED when they eventually take off in the future would be awesome too,
