GAMES BEGIN TODAY (SATURDAY) AT 12PM EST

**If you are interested, there is a 2nd league with available spots, which can be found HERE, or you can PM me and I'll put your name on a reserve list, in case we have people backing out between now and the start of the season**

SEASON BEGINS TODAY. GAMES BEGIN FRIDAY.

LEAGUE RULES
1. Teams are selected on a fist-come, first-served basis.
2. There is NO draft; teams start with default rosters, and will abide by standard trading deadline rules.
3. Season starts March 17th, 2009 (games start March 20th).
4. League consists of two divisions: American League and National League, each with 15 teams.
5. Each team will play every other team in it's division 6 times, in 2 series of 3 games each.
6. Each team will play every other team in the opposing division 3 times, in 1 series of 3 games.
7. Top 8 teams from each division make the playoffs.
8. Difficulty will be set to All-Star (which is in between Veteran and Hall of Fame).
9. Guess pitch is OFF.
10. Strike zones are ON.
11. Hot/Cold zones are OFF.
12. Pitching mode is METER.
13. Baserunning mode is CLASSIC.

Time to kick a** and take names. If this happens what kind of setings do we put up. I like the Classic Running. Can't stand the new version. Hitting? You guys have to let me know so i can practice

What does everyone think about a draft vs no draft?

Should we just say no draft, and run from there?

Honestly it does not matter to me, I just think live drafts are very entertaining. I would prefer to have the classic running style though lol.

Ok, I guess I'll throw the hammer down, and declare we'll start with default rosters. This will make it easier for picking teams (so people don't have to pick two teams, depending on the outcome). I'll update the top post.

I honestly don't know the difference in baserunning. What is "classic" and what is the new one. I didn't play '08, so I'm only familiar with '07 (though I played '06 on PS2)?

The classic you just pick which button that the runner has and use the directional pad to send him to what base you want him at. Press L1 or R1 to send all runneres forward or backward. The New One? Has something to do the right and left sticks i think. Pain in the a** IMO.

I kept messing up at first with 08 when I would try to advance my runners. Sometimes I would push the L1 when I meant for just one to go and then it was too late and I'd be out by a double play

LOLIdk how the left and right sticks would work out. Probably not that well for me. Usually when I'm waiting or something I'll randomly move them. LOL

Ok, I just finished updating the list.

The classic baserunning definitely sounds better to me (never even tried the newer one). Sound good to everyone else? If so, I'll add that to the league rules.

Doesn't matter when. Just not the day before we start but I would like to know how we would do the hitting. Sorry to say but for yeas all i've done is wait for the right time to hit the ball and press the X (rookie)

I didn't realize there were different hitting modes.

I'd prefer whatever the default method is in the game. Not sure if it changed much in 2008 (didn't appear to, based on the demo) but basically have the option of guessing the pitch location and type (not required, just an option) and then it's just a matter of timing and swinging. You can hold left/right to pull/push a hit, up/down to pop-up/ground down, etc.

If there is a method where you have to line up a cursor over where you see the ball, and then swing, I'm not a fan of it.

I am a fan for this mode too because you still have to move the hit stick to where the ball is going to be. If the ball is low you would lower the left hit stick. Your still guessing where the pitch is going to be just not what type. Not a fan guess pitching but I will do it if we choose too.
