Default really quick question on sony's!

I have an oppurtunity to get a sony bravia kdl52v4100. It comes with the sony 550 blu ray player for an extra hundred.

But they are also selling the kdl52s4100 for the same price without the blu ray player. So my question is, what is the difference between the s model and the v model.

Also I have a 42 panny plasma right now. Is this t.v. going to be a major downgrade. ? Thanks

From what I can tell, the V series has 4 HDMI ports as compared to 3 for the S series. Also, the V series has a contrast ratio of 25,000 to 1, while the S series is only 3,000 to 1. The S series does not use the Sony Bravia engine, but the V series does. The V series also uses Sony's 60 hz motionflow technology, but the S series does not. With this info, the V series is your better TV. To get a free blu-ray player with the V series makes this a no-brainer in my opinion.

Hands down, the Sony V series is a much better TV than the S series, from features to chassis appearance (latter IMHO), and with the Sony BDP-S550 (which Sony is phasing out at this time) for the extra hundred is an excellent deal, since this player is typically selling for around $300 to $350 by itself nowadays - it's a very good player, too.

You would not be doing any favors for yourself to buy the S series over the V, and the 550 BD player for cheap deal just makes it sweeter.

FYI, the W series Sonys will have the 120Hz panel, if you are so inclined (check your pricing/deals).

Hey guys I pulled the trigger on this deal.

sony v series 52kdl4100 , with a sony 550 blu ray player for 1999.00 before taxes and shipping.

The price is high but that's what we have to put up with here in canada, The blu-ray player justifies it somewhat. But This t.v. is going in my new theatre room that is almost completed. Just waiting on carpet now. I can't wait to post pictures. I hope it's on par with my panny 42pz85u. I'm kind of worried about the blacks on this new set. Anyways I'll fire it up when it gets delivered.

Does anyone know how the special delivery works with future shop. I thought they would have called or e-mailed to arrange a time. All I got so far was a confirmation e-mail of my order.

Easy answer for you: Get the V series. And to top it off you get a free blu ray player with it? Its a no brainer if you ask me!

k I just got an e-mail. It's coming on wednesday between 12 and 6. I can't even get it fired up though because it's going in my theatre room in the basement we still have to install the carpet. I guess I will open it and have a look at it just to make sure there are no problems, but than it has to go back in the box for a week or two. I hope the 8 ms respons time isn't a killer for me. My old sharp had 4ms, and my panny plasma has no motion blur at all.

The V4100 produces great images, it's pretty good with the backlighting and black levels, also the skin tones look good, my only complaint with it is the motion blur, so i would go V5200, W4100, W5200 or higher (with the 120Hz). S4100 has Bravia Engine 1, V series has Bravia Engine 2, and i think W5100 will have Bravia Engine 3.

Hey Chev,

I agree with you on everything you said regaurding the V4100 except for the motion blur. To me its barely noticeable except if you really study it hard enough and if you really have what they call a trained eye for that kind of thing. I almost sold it to get the Sony W series or the Samsung series 6 tv's and now I am glad I didnt. I dont think spending the extra cash for 120hz justifies it. Of course thats just me and my opinion.

You and I have the exact same TV. And as far as I can tell, the images have been flawless. Even when watching fast action sequences. And the thing is, I have it hooked up to my PS3 where I have 24fps enabled. To this day, I cant for the life of me see any motion blur. Any distortion. And I just last week ordered the update for the set. So I know that I will only be more satisfied with this fine set

Enjoy dude. I have the 46inch V4100 and even though yours is a tad bigger then mine I know you will love it. The Sony V4100 series are excellent HD tv's.

Congrats and cant wait to see it out of the box and all set up.
