Default How is this possible??

Ok, so i downloaded and installed v1.8 and now ALL my ps3 are outputting dts sound!! Before the update my receiver (HK avr635) recognized my games as dolby digital but now it comes up as dts on every game!!! how is this possible since the games were only encoded w/ dolby digital sound? is this a glitch w/ the new firmware update? some other glitches i've noticed with v1.8 is that i have alot of trouble signing in to the psn as it keeps coming up with error messages. i know it's not my internet connection because my laptop is working fine. also, everytime i turn the ps3 on i have to keep resetting the full range hdmi output setting. it says it's set to full but you can clearly tell it's not and when switched to limited and back to full the blacks become much darker so it's obviously loosing the setting when switched off. anyone else experience these problems or have any idea as to why this is happening?? sorry for the long post and thanks for your input in advance!!!

My receiver always shows DTS when a track is encoded in Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby TrueHD but I can't seem to think why it would do that. Haven't played any ps3 games in a while either so I'm not really sure. I doubt this helps but thought I'd throw it out there

Anything is possible.

It always happen to me when you first power PS3 up which keep sign on and off, lose connection, and few times errors, then after few hours, it is working and you are online on psn. I do not have big problem with it, just when I power up but several hours, it is running up and fine. It does not bother me, because it is only short time then it working fine.

I do not have issues with HDMI as you stated.

Hope it resolved soon as possible as you can so you would enjoy experience playing game or watch Blu-ray on PS3.

I don't know, but my 1080i hdtv can output 1080p so it works with me. Anyways, Do you notice sound difference? probably not? As for the PSN error messages... I get used to that pretty fast. Are your HDMI cables plugged in tight enough?

I haven't had any problems signing in right after switching on or a long time afterward if signing into one of my other regional accounts. The RGB Full Range setting does need resetting though.

Are you getting the same sound quality from the supposed DTS output? If so what's the complaint?

Can't say i notice a difference in sound quality, just found it strange that games now come up as dts after the upgrade to v1.8. i never had any error messages before i updated the firmware when signing on to the psn either. well, at least im not the only one experiencing the rgb full range setting problem...

It's basically because your reciever thinks it's a 1.5mbps DTS track since technically it is. If you're using optical/coax (or have HDMI set to bitstream), the audio track will be changed to a 1.5mbps audio track and lose the high bit rate it once had (except most Dolby Digital-Plus tracks are actually 1.5mbps which is what a full bit rate DTS track is, just everyone seems to think they're higher for some reason).
