anybody own this tv? Close to buying it, but have heard that there are problems with 1080i sources?? Otherwise excellent picture and deep blacks/shadow detail. Thoughts?

I've had a 42" for about a month and I have to say I love it to death. I don't think I have encountered any 1080i sources to my knowledge, I pretty much watch discs or avi files exclusively, so I can't really comment on that.

But from my experience it is very, very pretty with very good black and stunning colors, once you get it all set up. It also has a very high level of color control, so you can tweak and tweak and tweak until it is just right.

My only complaint is that it doesn't separate the smoothing and dejudder controls, so the few times I've wanted to adjust that aspect, I can only do low, medium, high, or off. But it is almost always off anyway.

With the 2010 models coming out you can probably get one for a steal, mine was about $900 at Fry's a month ago.

I would be surprised if someone had a better tv in its price range, but I'm not exactly an expert. I did look at a ton of tvs, and currently am very happy with my purchase.

I have a 55LH90 and in my opinion, this is a "best bang for your buck" tv, so if that is what you are looking for, then go for it. You can probably get one around $1700 now, and you won't be able to beat that for what you get.

The only other TV I would consider getting right now is a Samsung 8000 series TV. There is a 55" 8000 and a 55" 8500 I would love to have, but both are about double the LG, so I couldn't justify the price difference, especially since both of those models have stopped production due to some kind of legal dispute.

The only other TV I have my eye on right now is the 72" Vizio that is supposed to come out in Aug. I really wanted that LG to look as good as the Samsung, and it just didn't. And it never will. So that has bothered me since day one. I am probably going to have to upgrade (in screen size and features, not quality) to that Vizio in Aug. I would rather be disappointed with the picture quality of a giganitc TV, then a 55" one. But that is just me.

If you do decide to grab the LG, the picture settings below are the best I have found, and believe me, I have tried them all. But of course, TV settings are based on each individual user preference, so beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The other links will help you out as well. Best of luck.

I just picked the 42" version of this TV from a SD thread. It was $849.99 with free shipping and $68.00 Bing cashback as well. So ends up being about $780.00 shipped. For the specs, full LED backlit with local dimming, and the great reviews Ive seen basically everywhere, IMO its a steal and a half at that price.

I had been looking for a Sammy in the 46" range but couldnt pass up this deal for a product that has a better picture and specs than most of the Sammys I was looking at for almost twice the price.

It shipped today so hopefully Ill have it by Monday. Cant wait!

You and me both, brother.

For that same reason, I'm also going with the 55LH90. Good times.

Nicely done.. My 32" is supposed to "tide-me-over" until the big OLED/SED/FED battle starts and I can make a major leap.. but that battle seems like it's never going to happen. Plus I have a buddy who will give me $400 for my 32" (he loves the input options I have and he has a build-in cabinet that can only fit a 32" max) so that would cut the cost of the 42" in half.. Hmmmmm...
