Got this from movieinsider.
"March 27th, 2009 News has burst out of New Line Studios, LA that pre-production work on the upcoming re/make/imagining/boot of 'The Crow' is almost completed. Several sources close to the project, including our own Colin Heaton, have revealed that not only has the script been approved for some time but casting for the movie is also almost done. This comes as a big surprise to us as we had anticipated this particular project as being the type to leak information slowly and over time. We hadn't seen this one coming but we have verified this with the studio themselves. The project is due to begin filming early this Autumn in Los Angeles and Philadelphia with an estimated budget of $80,000,000. Stephen Norrignton (Blade) is to direct the screenplay he co-wrote with James Robinson (The League of Extraordinary Gentleman) and is said to be a 'grittier' version with more of a 'documentary' type feel. It is also confirmed that the story will follow that of the original film with most of the characters from the 1994 original returning. This time however a more significant portion of the story will be dedicated to the character of Eric Draven (previously played by Brandon Lee) before the events of the first movie and his murder. This backstory will be wholly original and will feature story elements not present in the original or any of it's sequels. Also comfirmed is the return of Ernie Hudson to the story, although it is unknown at this point whether he will be reprising his role as Albrecht or not. What is known is that relative Hollywood newcomer James Pattinson (Twilight) has signed a prelimenary deal to portray Eric Draven in the story however it seems that Norrington will be replacing the Pattinson after the murder scene. So it is unclear whether the actual 'Crow' character will be another actor entirely or will be handled digitally. Other confirmed actors on the project are Bridget Moynahan (Lord Of War), Marlon Wayans (Scary Movie), Martin Donnovan (The Haunting In Connecticut) and Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire). 'The Crow' has been tentatively given a U.S. release of Octoober 30th 2010 with a worldwide release in the following weeks." Source |
