Default How to get equipment to shake hands

I am having problems getting my Pioneers 1018 receiver to output a video signal to my older Toshiba 52HM84.

I just get a green screen and then intermittent flashes.

I have tried this with another tv (newer Samsung LCD) with NO problems.

My TV is HDCP compliant, has worked when running the HDMI cable directly to my BD Player and SAT DVR.

But passing the video signal through to the tv has simply not worked.

Any ideas ???

It may be as simple as which order you turn on the receiver and the TV. Personally, on my Harmony remote, I have it programmed to turn the TV on and then the receiver. I've never had a handshake problem with it. Equipment is in my sig.

Yeah, no dice. Tried the tv before the receiver and vice-versa.

My typical fix is usually forcing a handshake directly from component to TV, then shutting off, routing through receiver, crossing fingers, and praying; it usually works. Will either source output through the receiver if it is the only one plugged in? Alternatively, does the 1018's OSD display over HDMI? Can you make that display without a problem? I would try to force every component to handshake individually, including the receiver. If none of this helps.....I am out of suggestions. Best of luck!

I'm curious, why have you made three threads about this problem? Can't it just stick to one?

Desperate times come desperate measures.
Sorry if this doesn't "follow protocol"

At this point I'm returning the receiver and will be upgrading my tv.
This has been a long time coming and I will certainly welcome a new LCD.
