Default Talk about an early release!

A few days ago I went into my local BJ's Wholesale club (03/25/09) and bought 8 new Blu's.

Point of No Return
Collateral Damage
Above The Law
John Q
2010
Tango & Cash
The Wedding Singer
American History X

I've gotten some early before, but not this many at once and almost 2 weeks early. So far I have only watched John Q.

I suspect that your local BJ's made a HUGE error. Studios don't take kindly to having their product available prior to the release date.

That's awesome dude. It's cool when good things happen.

I can remember...lemme see...I'm pretty sure it was June(ish) 1995 when my ex and I were working at Costco together...she sold a copy of The Lion King before street date. The member had found her way onto the loading bay and "appropriated" her copy from a sealed pallet.

Dude...someone from Disney called the warehouse in...like...an HOUR. My front end manager had to call the member and bribe them to come back and return it.

It can get pretty dramatic.

When you have a chance could you comment on PQ for Above The Law and American History X. I wanna pick them up but only if there is a big difference from the DVD.

Not a horrible movie, but defintely not good for a Denzel movie. Wouldn't even consider buying it.

Interestignly, a few days ago, I was at Best Buy and was surprised to see that they had a sale on American History X. Obviously, they had none on the shelf, but they had the little blue sale tag mounted to the shelf in the correct location for the BD. Price was $16.99. I asked a clerk if they had "any more," and not only did he check store inventory, but also all the local BBs - none had them. Little mix-up on BBs part, I guess.

Is this really true? I'll order all Warner titles early if this is actually the case.
Let me know...I really haven't heard of this before!

Disney does not play around when it comes to their products. They will sue at the drop of a hat if someone is guilty of copyright infringement too.

Man I hope that's true, I just pre-ordered from Warner for the first time and got 5 titles. Hopefully I see them early, I waited 6 weeks for my King Kong and Notebook from Tower and I had to ask for a refund (f**k Tower btw)

True. What I should have said is that Disney doesn't play around period.

Really, the pirates of the carribean films and most pixar film seem to make it onto the shelf a good week or two before the official release date where I live. I have another question, why should it matter if there sold early (giving that everyone just puts them out once they recieve them)?

i believe her story involved Costco higher ups seeing the movie had sold, there is no way Disney had access to Costco's sales numbers within hours of purchase. Personally though I wouldnt have brought it back, now if she was actually on the loading dock and got a copy, all I can ask is where were the employees??

As a long-time Costco employee I can tell you that we take release dates very seriously. And yes, Costco has access through an option in their system that will tell anyone within minutes as to what has been sold on any given product they sell. If Warner, Disney, etc . were to do an audit (which I suppose would happen from time to time) this would be evident.
