Default [PSN] Gatling Gears

When the Empire begins its reign of destruction in a thirst for natural resources, it’s up to Max Brawley, a retired Gatling Gear pilot, to stop them. Together with his niece and his trusty Gatling Gear unit he must fight his way to the heart of the Empire and eliminate the destruction at its source.

Gatling Gears is a twin-stick top-down shooter for PlayStation Network. The game is developed by Amsterdam-based Vanguard Games. Set in the same Mistbound universe introduced in Greed Corp., Gatling Gears takes you deeper into the lore of the world and its inhabitants with an all-new action-focused style of gameplay.

Coming May 18th

Wow, this totally slipped my radar. Looks fantastic. Will try the demo (assuming I don't get into the Journey beta... which I might!).

I've been waiting for this game ever since the announcement trailer a couple of months ago.

Man it is rad. Chunky mechs, bright colors, explosions, and really nice sound.

I don't like how hard it is to avoid enemy attacks. Your mech feels chunky and slow, and enemy shots are too tightly grouped to reliably avoid at anything other than extreme range (which you can't do because your guns are short range, minus missiles/grenades).

play more defensive and learn to look further ahead of your mech. You should be tracking your mech out of the corner of your eye, while you focus on exactly what the enemies are doing. Combined that with not so much rushing in offensively, and you'll be able to dodge plenty. You also need to prioritize which enemies you kill first.

That said, you are in a clunky mech and the game is balanced around that as well. You get armor upgrades to survive more and the higher level weapons are pretty devastating.

This game is quite long, great value.

my only real complaint so far is that sometimes the HUD stuff in the lower left can get in the way and there is no option to make it transparent. Its really only been a problem for a couple of specific scenes.

Played the demo and for the most part enjoyed it. Didn't like that your main gun has limited range (although I guess you upgrade this) and the fact that you basically have to stop and manually aim the grenade launcher while there are a billion bullets heading straight for you! Wouldn't buy it but would gladly accept it as a PSN+ freebie

the grenades are your most powerful attack plus your area of effect wrapped in one. They can't let you wing those off like nothing! But, once you place the target for them, it stays there for your current "clip" of grenades. So you can target a spot and wing off all 3 to the same spot without re-aiming. and since your machine gun has limited range and you are moving around dodging bullets anyway, you learn to quick scope that shit for short/medium range targets.

you do also get more chances than you might think, to take care with your aim.

Never even noticed it stayed in the same place, was in too much of a rush avoiding shit while trying to fling off a grenade
