Default Circuit City Credit Card to Change to Best Buy

I did a search to see if anyone else started this topic yet, but I did not get any result indicating such, so I am starting this thread to ask if anyone else got a letter that I did yesterday.

It said that Chase is going to honor my Circuit City credit card at any Best Buy. It says in the meantime I can use my account for purchases at Teleflora flower club at www.flowerclub.com/cc (I have no idea what this is?)

The letter says I will get a new Best Buy branded credit card in May 2009.

I am pretty happy that I now get to use my account at Best Buy without having to do a new credit inquiry to open an account there.

So, has anyone else gotten this letter or aware of this change?

That's pretty sweet. My mom was bummed when cc closed because he had a really nice limit with them looks like she can continue to buy me expensive things now

This would make sense. I believe the bank for Circuit City's card is the same as Best Buy. (Chase)

My guess, though, is that only the lower risk folks will get transferred, while the higher risk accounts will get closed....

Best Buy is HSBC Bank. My Circuit City and Amazon cards are but not Best Buy. Its a pain to get a Credit Card account with Best Buy. I have a regular card with them but not a credit card.

My Montgomery Ward card became a Wal-Mart card. Since I despise Wal-Mart, I cancelled it immediately. My CompUSA card is still good, AFAIK.

They closed mine too. I tried to use my CC card today and was denied. It was kind of embarrassing.

Thumbs down

The interest rates on store CC's are insane, even if you have excellent credit. I would never ever open one up.

Luckily, I didn't have to open a new account, they are just transferring it and providing a new BB branded card. I have used my Circuit City cc for no-interest only promotions on big ticket items. Interest rates never come into play, as I always pay it off before the grace period ends.
