Default 768p output choice possible?

Would it be possible to add a 768p downscaling feature to the PS3? So many TVs that are 1080i-capable are actually 768p resolution (1366x768) and not 1080i. They downscale the video to match.

Wouldn't the video look potentially better if it were downscaled automatically by the PS3 into this size. I don't even know if my TV would accept that natively.

I also don't understand why they would do such a weird thing as make a 768p resolution TV that needs scaling up from 720p, or downscaling from 1080i every time.

You most likely will have to have your display convert your signal. If it's a decent display device, you shouldn't have any trouble.
