Default You might want to also review the OPPO 83...

I was set on getting the BD80 as my order for the BD55 was cancelled but now after reading the forums I'm thinking the OPPO Digital 83 is a better player that also will play DVD's better. The OPPO will go on sale end of this month if their beta group has enough votes.

The Panny is a good player but I think the OPPO is better; it might be a little more money but not a huge amount? I think it will sell for $500?

The company has revised that estimate some time ago - the EAP units sold for $499 and OPPO has said that production players will go for either $499 or $599.

It's even available in Austria by now. I got one over a week ago. But brought it back on the next day because it had Problems with the DTS HD Track of "Max Payne".. Every few minutes or so there was a short gap in the sound. I tried the disc on the machine we had on display at the store, same problem. Didn't try it with the DMP-BD 60 though.. So I got myself the Pioneer BDP-51FD.
It's sad though, i liked the BD 80 a great deal. I especially liked the feature where you could click on the display button and check out the Mbit/s of Sound and Picture. That was actually the reason I bought the 80 and not the 60 in the first place. Too bad the first batch seems to be buggy. (The Disc didn't cause the same problem on any other player).
