Default Wacky Races...Live Action Movie!

Who would like to see this being made into a live action flick? I post this because Hollywood ran out of original ideas decades ago, so why not add this to the list.

Oh and I'll start...Margot Robbie as Penelope Pitstop. May as well go with Robbie, since she gets cast for everything these days.

Lets go people...

I would-but I think it is to obscure.
When I saw the title I thought they HAD announced a movie.

Yeah, baby. I lived for this show.

There were a few versions though, I think. It's all fuzzy now.

I think the two characters you have to nail are Muttley and Snagglepuss. (Was Snagglepuss even on the original show?)

Feels like Jim Carrey should be part of this.

Do you do a full animated, mix of live action and animation, or something else? If they made it today it would probably look too shiny and modern. They need a director who will stick to the original vibe of the show and not try to reimagine it.

It's a simple formula. Ol' Dick always cheats somehow and it backfires on him allowing another racer to win.

I think it's a great idea for a movie because there are so many great characters/teams. That original cast was like the late-60's Sinister Six of voice actors.

Paul Winchell as Dick Dastardly, Private Meekly, Clyde
Don Messick as Muttley, Professor Pat Pending, Gravel Slag, Bella Gruesome, Ring-a-Ding, Sawtooth
Daws Butler as Rock Slag, Tiny Gruesome, Red Max, Sergeant Blast, Peter Perfect, Rufus Ruffcut
John Stephenson as Luke, Blubber Bear
Janet Waldo as Penelope Pitstop
Dave Willock as Commentator/Narrator

At least do a direct-to-video or Cartoon Network animated film.

No Snagglepuss on original

It was Dick Dastardly and Muttley.

Ben Affleck with his giant chin should be Peter Perfect.

A question mark in the thread title wouldn't have gone amiss...

I imagine if anyone tried this these days it would probably follow the template of the DC Comics post-apocalyptic Mad Max-style version from a 2016:

Quote:
The world has ended, but the race has just begun! Penelope Pitstop, Peter Perfect and the rest of the Wacky Racers vie for the finish line in a contest where the winner takes all and second place is death. Today’s trial: the shattered maze of freeways known as the Überpass, where they’re beset by giant sand beasts, mutated insects, and worst of all, Dick Dastardly’s murderously poor sportsmanship. The last thing they need after surviving the race is a brutal bar fight in a local dive, but that’s just what they get!!

I do believe The Great Race with Lemmon/Curtis and Natalie Wood (in those stockings...!!!) plus the pie fight was the main inspiration for Wacky Races.

This would be really cool in live action. Didn’t really watch the original but I really enjoyed the newer 2017 version that aired on Boomerang. I thought it was funny. Liked seeing Dick Dastardly in SCOOB too.

What a great ad...!

Actually forget Robbie for Ms Pitstop, I think Taylor Swift would be perfect!

That is a great ad. Too bad they didn't use any of the original music for it as well.

If some1 really made this into a Live-Action movie. I want it to be something like It's a Mad Mad Mad World type setting. As long its not super cheesy over the top CGI Crap-a-Thon...

Wouldn't it just be Speed Racer though? Which was already a fantastic movie.
