Default Me Again - PDP-5020F (Pioneer 50") or TH-58PZ800U (Panasonic 58") ?

I was set on getting the Pioneer 50" because of all the rave reviews and great suggestions. However, I am wondering if the TV is going to be big enough? Seems really small when I go by the measurements given to me on Amazon and Pioneers site.

TV is 48" x 28". That seems really small. Problem is, they don't tell me if that is the watchable screen size (internal) or the size which includes the "frame" of the tv (external).

The Panasonic seems much bigger in comparison, of course it's also 8" larger too. Lol. It clocks in at 57" x 37" which is substantially bigger.

Which one should I go with? Does the Pioneer blacks justify their cost? Seems like the Panasonic's have a hell of a PQ themselves. Just wondering what would be the better buy at this point. It's only $150 or so difference.

Opinions please! I will be sitting within 8 feet of the tv.
