Default U-571, Merry Christmas eardrums!!!

This movie sounded great on DVD, but it is the one of the best sounding BD I've heard yet. Very dynamic indeed. There was so much use of surround effects(almost as if it were expanded),that it sounded pretty close to some 7.1 movies I've heard.

Watched it last night, and the sound is great. Universal does a great job in the audio and video categories.

Seems like Universal has been getting high reviews for aq/pq on their blu-rays lately. I also noticed that the vc-1 codec seems to be only used by wb now as far as major studios go. Anyone else notice that the WB's bitrate for their dolby truehd tracks are on the lower side just like the pq bitrates compared to everyone else? I look at some of WB's blu-ray releases like poison ivy 4...I just got to wonder what the hell they are thinking.

On my wishlist for sure. I haven't gotten around to buying it yet. I'm holding out for a super deal if it ever comes. I might just end up going the $19.99 route.

How did I miss that! Let me guess - Frys sale? I'll keep my eyes open for sure. $13.99 or in that range would be ideal.

This one was done an injustice with just a 5.1 mix...this film screams for a DTS HD-MA 7.1 soundtrack. Still amazing though with 5.1

Nice. That seller has a 100% positive rating. Might pull the trigger here in a bit.

Although I love big sound track movies , I refuse to buy this one because it is a bastardization of the true historical facts making it an insult to the real men who aquired and broke the German Code More Hollywood Bullshit in the vein of "The Great Escape"

This is still one of the best sound effect movies I have seen in theaters. It just rocked the the whole theater. I remember seeing a different movie the next week and you could hear the depth charges going off from a different theater.

The depth charge scenes sounded incredible on DVD (DTS). Definately going to pick this one up soon on Blu. Thanks.

Just sat down on the computer from watching U-571.

Fantastic. Great surround sound. I thought Master and Commander's audio was great. U-571 is better. The sound went from one side of the room to the other then back again before filling the whole room.

Once again GREAT SOUND.

My TV is not an HDTV so I cannot comment on PQ but AQ is top notch.

The depth charges are something to behold but actually some of my favorite scenes:

The first diving on the fake U-boat, for the first time I actually heard background conversations going on.

The dinner table scene where their plates rock back and forth with the waves and the clarity is so unbelievable. You can actually hear the panning effects of the dishes and you actually hear a piece of silverware hit the floor.

The deep diving sequence where you hear the popping of rivits and water leaking.

There is a scene where Eddie the cook is talking to Mr Tyler near the beginning when they are loading the ship. Eddie mentions about one of the crew dropping the eggs. Well for the first time I actually heard the eggs falling and breaking.

When the fake U-boat gets torepedoed. You can actually hear the fatiguing of metals and the breaking up of the ship. Incredible!
