Default What netbook?

I'm about to get a netbook, and I can't decide between the Aspire One and the MSI Wind.

Aspire One
MSI Wind

What one should I get? Any thoughts from people that have one of them?

I like the Aspire One. The Win XP one with 160gb HD. I just wish the HD was solid state but then the price would be a lot higher.

Acer was #1 selling netbook this holiday. My sister got one and likes it a lot.

I myself, am waiting for the Sony "P" netbook.

A Netbook is a new type of laptop computer, defined by size, price, horsepower, and operating system. They are small, cheap, under-powered, and run either an old or unfamiliar operating system.
I am awaiting the new Sony "P" netbook, myself. I used to own a Macbook. I plan on using it for internet browsing, writing papers, checking e-mail, etc. Basic things.

I also do not want to carry around a larger laptop, that is over-spec'd and overpriced for my needs. Most people have found out that they can do basic computing needs on a $300 "laptop", not worry about size, weight or heat produced by larger notebooks, used for the same thing.

And yes, I need/want a "netbook" with 1600×786 resolution. And no I don't have a problem "seeing" on a "small" screen either.

Acer has a new 10.1" for $349 with 160 gig HDD, 1 gig RAM and a wireless g card. I like it a little better than my 8.9" only because the RAM, HDD and network card are all easy to get at for upgrading. My 8.9" has to be completely taken apart to increase the RAM or the HDD. Having said that I've got nothing but praise for mine.

I just started looking at Amazon and this one looks interesting:

http://www.amazon.com/10-Inch-Netbook-Processor-Storage-Bluetooth/dp/B001QTXL82/ref=pd_cp_pc_1?pf_rd_p=413863401&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001QFZFSK&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIK X0DER&pf_rd_r=1TSBEDZK8MBWATV0M51H

It can be bumped up to 2 gigs of RAM and has the newer N280(1.66 gig) processor. Right now I believe these two are the only processors available. 9.5 hours of battery life is just crazy.

thats actually the other one i was looking at over on cnet. i'm trying to convince her to wait for the rumored apple netbook, but who knows if that would even happen

here's another question. why is there only 1 touchscreen netbook? to keep cost down? seems logical to make these touchscreen

I don't think they really expected these things to catch on like they did. And at this point $350-400 is pretty much what they have to be priced at to be competitive. Touchscreens would probably bump the price up too much? That's actually the first upgrade I'm going to do to mine. Going to upgrade the RAM and HDD in mine and since it's got to completely come apart anyway, I figured "why not?". I can't remember who's bringing it out, but someones making a tablet/netbook in the next few months, might be worth waiting on.

there are some interesting netbooks running chips from nvidia and qualcomm, but those will run custom linux distro's, which would be fine for me..not so much for the woman

Picked up an Asus EEE PC - 1000HE a couple weeks back. Bumped up the ram to 2 gig and loaded W7. Love it. Simple, light, sleek. Can't ask for more. Only cost me $350

Does the battery last anywhere near the advertised 9.5 hours? I'm getting 5.5 with mine right now, and the extra battery time plus the ease of upgrading might be worth the trade.
