I new to the forum, yesterday I bought de Sony BDP-S350 Blue Ray Player, I have to confess My main reason was the price, I bought it in Best Buy for $ 299.99 plus tax (Miami) and I ask a sales person if HD resolution of the player was only 1080p, her answer was to look the box and tell me is a full 1080p equipment.

Besides that lest talk about the player first the instalation is really easy, if you hook up the HDMI cable to you Tv You have the option to see your movies in the following resolutions 1080/24p - 1080p - 1080i - 720p and standard 480p - 480i.

If you choose to hook up using the component video out you can see your movies in this resolutions: 1080i - 720p and standard 480p - 480i.

Finally if you only have conection of S Video and Video you resolution will be only 480i.

This player will not play VCD, the player can read the disk like a Cd of photos, and every time your try to play it, will tell you no photo are found.

So if your old DVD player work with VCD keep it

The option to conect to internet via a LAN router can give us in the future a little hope the firmware is up grade to permit read VCD
