Default Spanish Audio track in LOST Season 1 & 2

Hello there,

I am interested in getting the LOST seasons 1 and 2 since it's region free and it won't be released here in Spain until nearly november, and although I prefer the original audio track, my family is lost-addicted and non-english speakers, so I'd like to know wether the spanish track included in the edition is neutral spanish (american) or Castillian, the spanish spoken in here.

I'd be really thankful if you helped me in this matter.

Thanks so much in advance.

It has to be Latin American Spanish!

Not necessarily. I've bought several american titles and they have Castillian instead of Latin spanish: Children of men, Prison Break season 3, Batman, Die Hard, V for Vendetta, etc...

When talking about BD's oriented to US and Latin American market, if the BD includes an audio track in spanish 90 out of 100 times (probably even more), it turns out to be Latin American Spanish.
Children of Men and Batman includes both, Castilian and Latin Spanish.
Die Hard series and V for Vendetta does include only a castilian track, however they are not the rule but the exception.
I have no idea about Prison Break.

Region Free titles released by Universal and Warner are the ones that more often offers both "flavors". But when there is only one track in spanish available, as I've said before, it's usually Latin Spanish.
Of course it's the opposite when talking about Region B titles released for the european(Spain) market.

I am aware of that, that's why I'm asking. In case it's Latin spanish I wouldn't get it for my relatives because it's completely different from the Castillian dubbing we have in here, the one they're used to.

But it's true what you're saying: in Warner's case, most of the Blu-Rays they include have both Latin and Castillian spanish.

Some possible good news! I believe I responded to the same post in the big Lost thread on the US forum before, but I decided to play around with the audio/subtitle settings on these Blus and discovered they had a slew of options not mentioned on the back.

One point of interest is that these discs include two Spanish audio options. One is marked "Spanish" and the other "Spanish L.A.". I don't speak Spanish, so I can't really differentiate between them, but I would assume that L.A. would be Latin American and the other track could be Castillian, which you are looking for.

Rizor, thanks so much for the information!

Fortunately, you are simply confirming what I had already heard in another forum: the LOST seasons do not show in the cover specifications the Castillian Spanish 5.1 track, whereas the Latin American one is 2.0. In any case, both spanish tracks are included and the edition is region free, so I'm heading to get it inmediately!!.

In spain, the seasons will be released by the end of october, and most probably much more expensive than in the US. So there's no need to wair anymore... thanks!!

And I insist I've never seen Lost dubbed... it's just for my non-english-speakers relatives...

In any case, don't you think it's really awful they hide the real specifications from the users? What would we do without the forums?

Hola dano

That happens more often than you think. Remember how the UK Blu-ray of Raging Bull only says it has English subtitles, when in fact it has the same subtitles as the USA edition.

The Japanese-speaking people often find out about subtitles only through this forum.

Hola Grubert!

So funny we find each other in different forums, no matter where they're from. I agree 100% with you... and it's, in my opinion, quite sad... but well, that's the way it works I guess. Business is business, I'd say. After all, it's just a few of us who find out these tricks...

¿Por Qué Te Vas?

Hoy en mi ventana brilla el sol,
Y el corazón,
se pone triste contemplando la ciudad,
Porque te vas.

Como cada noche desperté,
Pensando en ti, y en mi reloj
Todas las horas vi pasar,
porque te vas.

Todas la promesas de mi amor
Se irán contigo,
Me olvidarás, me olvidarás.

Junto a la estación hoy lloraré
Igual que un niño,
porque te vas, porque te vas,
Porque te vas, porque te vas.

Bajo la penumbra de un farol,
Se dormirán,
todas las cosas que quedaron por decir,
Se dormirán.

Junto a las manillas de un reloj
Esperarán
todas las horas que quedaron por vivir,
Esperarán.

Todas la promesas de mi amor
Se irán contigo,
Me olvidarás, me olvidarás.

Junto a la estación hoy lloraré
Igual que un niño,
Porque te vas, porque te vas,
Porque te vas, porque te vas

Hola,

So what happened in the end? Does it have castilian spanish?

I have had a bad experience in the past when I bought the Matrix trilogy in the UK (in Spain is literally priced x3 the british price) and the box set stated both castilian and latin spanish whereas the individual boxes stated only latin… they tried it in the shop and there was no castilian track.

Any idea if the uk version disks the same as in the US release - it's usually cheaper for us to get blu rays through the british Amazon.

Gracias!
