Arrow I can't believe how much times have changed

Back in 2003 I thought 125 movies was a lot.
Back in 2003 the furthest my collection got was about 80 before I sold most of them.
Today I have over 500 blu-rays, DVDs, UMDs and TV seasons. Anyone else surprised by how much their collection has grown?

Over a period of time I have about 80 dvd's, since I got into BD in 07 I have about 80 or so titles...so yes times have changed.

I had about 800 movies and TV shows on DVD but have sold almost all the movies so now I have around 50 TV seasons. I have been a little more selective when buying Blu-rays but as you can see from my collection I still have 127 movies. The main thing now is I want to be able to store my collection on one storage rack so if I get close to filling it up I sell some of my DVDs.

To hell with my collection, I can't believe all the money I've invested in actual home theater considering 2 years ago I was running an RCA 24" tube and a Philips HTiB.

I've gone the opposite. I used to have over 1100 DVD's, and have since sold off most of them. Also used to buy pretty much everything I had a slight interest in, rather than renting. Now with Blu, with the exeption of when I first got my player I pretty much rent exclusively and only buy stuff now and then.

i started collecting movies after i got my 1st dvd player back in 2000. my collection grew to over 700, then i sold off close to 300 movies.

then blu hit, my blu collection will be over 60 very soon and my dvd collection is sitting around 360ish.....don't plan on selling off many more dvd's, only the select few that i want on blu when they get released.

If I were to sit down and calculate how many hours of movies and tv shows I have on disc,I would probably have to retire just to watch everything.

not really I had over 500 as a kid now that I have my own money and don't have to ask to get "most" things lol I find it could be alot bigger then the 260+ blus + 19+ TV shows I have.

FYI after the Cowboys get eliminated every year, I do a super marathon. Last year it took me until March...not sure how much longer it will take this year, almost all the way through the movies and coming up on the TV shows now.

The bad: having more than you could easily watch

The good: always having something you haven't seen

Mmm hmm, sounds like my situation. Out of the over 1400 titles(or 2100-2200 discs) I have about 300 I have yet to watch. Although about 80% of those are films I have seen before, just not since I bought 'em.

The important thing is to not lose control over one's collection. I do have control over mine.

I have not invested as much in my equipment as some or most off you but before blu I never saw the need for a good audio system/setup.

Actualy for me, my BD collection is growing much slower then my DVD collection. I started buying DVD in summer 99 and within a few months I was at 100 and before the end of that first year I was already at over 300. I am more careful with BD, I had too many DVD that were watched only once and that is just waste of money and space I find. Now after 10 months on Blu, I am only reaching 70 BD and there is no way I will reach 100 before in the next 2 months. Maybe I am getting wise in my old age

I'd say 70 in 10 months is healthy enough. I've had a player for 6.5 months & am up to 85 or so, some of which I should have waited on really.

I collected 320 DVDs since 1998 and now I will hit 400 blu-rays in less than a 2 year run

So far Ive been careful with my BD purchases, I mostly buy things I watch over and over. I would say of my collection only one of them I've watched only once and that is the National Geo documentary about prehistoric sea beasts. Had see the doc on TV and bought on on BD but looking back I should have skip that one. Will probably send it to DVD Planet soon. Most of the other's have been watched twice if not more already. I was horrible on DVD I had stuff that was watched once and I have no picked up again in almost 10 years, just too much wast I find.
