How is this receiver with a ps3 hooked up? Does this combo decode all the blu ray audio codecs?

Thats a nice 2004 Pioneer Elite, unfortunately that combo will not get you lossless audio. If im mistaken please correct me. The audio will still be very nice though.

my brother has this set up now, his system sounds good but neither of us were sure if it would get the full potentiel of the blu ray audio

i just ordered the sony str-dg720 and that will be hooked up with a ps3 also. would that be better than the pioneer/ps3 combo??

Well, the Sony 720 has 3 HDMI inputs & will decode LPCM audio, so in that since yeah, but receivers all have their own unique sound. The Elite probably sounds really good. The Sony will work fine with your PS3.
