PCM,TRUHD,DTS-HD,Will my YAMAHA 1700 work with these sound formats? - Blu-ray Forum

I have the YAMAHA 1700 AV with HDMI 1.2A and im currently running my Pioneer dvd player,both picture and sound into the amp via HDMI.Will i be able to get the best of these soundtracks using my amp?I will be buying the PANASONIC BD10A when it comes out this month

You just won't be able to get DTS-HD MA.

would i still get the CORE 1.5 MEG soundtrack through HDMI or do u think i would need to go into analog imputs?.Plus does the Core on the DTS-HD MASTER sound any better than the DTS im getting from standard dvd?

As my friend here said you will be able to get PCM,TRUEHD,DTSHD ,but not DTSHDMA

In other words,From DTSHD you can get 1.5mbs whereas on DVD you have 768kbps.As a result,DTSHD sounded better than DVD.
