Because it bombed and got horrid reviews. Like it has literally one positive review on rottentomatoes. i have no idea why someone would blind-buy this. Rent it first.

I'm blind buying becuase I love the paranormal detective storyline weather it be comedy like this or serious and we don't get to many of these stories to begin with so I get what I can. Plus it looks to be a fun and cool movie to watch for an hour or two.

It went straight to the dollar theater in my town and that was the second week into it's release and it only lasted at the dollar theater for a week. It was ok. And I mean just ok. Cemetary Man aka Dellamorte Dellamore was a million times better.

When the movie was first being made it was supposed to be a direct to DVD/Blu-ray movie before they decided to release it in theaters so any money they made from theaters is just extra cash then it was going to make and a BD release was always in the plans.

Don't know where you heard this, but it is completely false. It was always going to be released theatrically, and they later even considered post-converting it to 3D. At one point during post-production (I guess they were as unimpressed as audiences) they considered dumping it direct-to-video instead, but then decided to give it a small release. Your source seems to have only gotten the last half of that history.

Not as classic as 1993's "Cemetery Man". Still, it's good to see this type of movie every 18 years or so. If people like it, they should go back and see the similar "Cemetery Man". Nothing wrong with a well-made horror-comedy, in my opinion, even a rip-off. (Just wait for a price drop so you don't get ripped off.)
Peter Stormare is great. My favorite role after "Fargo" and "Minority Report". And it is surprisingly well-made considering all the bad reviews. Effects are convincing for this type of film and nothing really screams "TV movie", except for the slightly annoying friend of Routh, I think Marcus was his name. He belongs in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". Worth a rental if you dig horror comedies. |
