![]() these don't look so safe compared to a bigger vehicle (train collisions with vehicles are rare as are head on collisions) |

Now lets see how the fit does against one which is the point that doesn't seem to be making it to your brain, of course if there would be anything even left to see. Of course we all hear about those car or truck vs. train accidents, happens everyday I'm sure!
![]() You say that the percentage of head on collisions is the same or less then as car vs train accidents, care to back that up with fact instead of nonsense? |

"So you think your truck is invinceable?"
Nope, but in the very unlikely event of a crash I am much better protected than a driver in a smaller and lighter vehicle. Even more importantly, my wife is better protected in my truck or her SUV than she would be in an economy car. In addition to the additional safety factor, it has offroad and cargo capacities that are useful in my lifestyle. Now was a 2nd thread really necessary to achieve your point? |

according to bigdog it was but now you say that a truck is safer than a smaller car yet, i've posted proof from bigdog's source in the other thread here it is: Quote:
does it look like the drive cabin of any of these pics is any more intact than the pics in the other thread!? the other thread is obviously an attack on drivers of smaller cars. so this thread is an attack agains drivers of larger cars. it's only fair right?? sure. i've tried to act like an adult in your other thread yet you only want to listen to people that agree with your side of the argument. so really, you're the one acting like a 3 year old. i don't own a small car. i own a 09 mitsubishi lancer and a 2003 ford explorer. yet i'm grown up enough to know that a rare occurance does not make a car less safe. especially when smaller compact cars have far less rollover's than SUV's. that doesn't mean that everyone that drives an SUV is going to have a rollover. |

One set of pictures shows massive damage caused by small cars, the other set shows massive damage caused by trains and such. Either you can understand the differences in these circumstances and you are being intentionally obtuse, or you truly don't see the difference.
In either case I don't see any reason to continue this discussion. Drive the vehicle that fits you best and don't worry about the other guy's choices. |

In the Hummer picture, it looks like Mr. Bus is where the entire Hummer driver would be.... and that was just a rear-end collision. Imagine what would've happened if it hit the bus head-on. ![]() For the people who don't get the point, the point is.... A smaller car might not be as "safe" as your truck when crashing into a car, but even in your truck there are still going to be bigger vehicles out there. The solution isn't to drive a bigger vehicle, it's to be a smarter driver. If anything, if a grandma was suddenly barreling down the highway in the wrong direction, and headed right for me, I think I'd rather be in a smaller car, so she has a smaller target to hit. Or I could quickly swerve out of the way, and not risk tumbling over and possibly getting crushed by the weight of my car when it rolls onto the roof. Last edited by toef; 04-16-2009 at 08:35 PM. |

If it's truck vs train, or fit vs anything else in a collision they're both equally rare. Percentage speaking neither one is more safe than the other. Logan |
