Default Do you have any blu-rays that will remain unopened in your collection?

And why?

I have like big boxsets like BenHur, Wonka, and Turtles to name a few that I haven't opened yet and I don't think I will. It's so stupid but I would probably get the standard cheaper versions for watching.

Anyone here who purposely buy these collector edition boxsets and keep them unopened?

I have a lot of unopened ones but only because I didn't watch them yet.

Pretty much this. I figure there are pictures on the internet if I want to look at the packaging.

It's especially dumb because they almost always go down in price. For example, I bought the Ben Hur set for $10. What fun is it to buy something and let it sit unopened? On the other hand, I can relate. I'll buy stuff and not open it because I feel guilty for spending the money. Additionally, it really bothers me to have Blu-ray sets depreciating on my shelf... so I'm a compulsive seller. Lastly, I do it out of self-preservation; if my wife ever saw thousands of dollars worth of Blu-rays gathering dust on my office shelf, she might kill me.

I own all the individual seasons already and pretty much only purchased this box set because I had some extra cash and I loved the way it looked.

Superman

One of my very first blu rays, got it for free with my PS3. I have no desire to ever open it while it's in my possession, because I don't even like the movie.

I open all my blu-rays when I get home on the day I buy them or when they arrive to check the condition of the disc. There were a few times that I had a brand new disc or case that was in terrible condition and had to exchange it. I don't want to be past the return period and find out that a disc is in terrible condition because I didn't check the disc's condition sooner. I however don't watch most of my blu-rays the day I buy them but if the disc is in excellent condition then most likely I should not have any problems playing them.

Sales! However, if you meant buying a movie but never ever going to watch the movie, then I agree that it's a waste of money to buy the movie. If I find a blu-ray that is on sale at a bargain price, such as $5, if I think there is a chance that I will want to watch in any time soon, then I will purchase it most likely while it's at a bargain price.
