Default Polk Subwoofer, Help Please

I currently own a 5.0 Polk Setup that consists of the following:

Fronts: Polk RTiA7 (2)
Center: Polk CSiA6 (1)
Surrounds: Polk FXiA4 (2)

I am looking to get a Polk subwoofer to compliment this set but I have no idea what would work well with it or what my power needs would even be (I know the subwoofer doesn't have to be Polk or match my set, but I'd like to stick with Polk audio for my sub).

I'm not looking for anything earth shattering, just something that would provide an enjoyable movie experience like my 5.0 setup currently does.

The dimensions of my viewing area are approximately 11 feet by 11 feet

I can give more information if needed.

Thanks in advance

Since you already mentioned you knew it doesn't have to be the same brand sub, I'll go ahead and toss this out there- why Polk? I'll be honest, they're not well-regarded in the subwoofer department. My father-in-law has one, and it's pretty boomy. Do you have a specific budget? There are some really good internet-direct subs out there at every price point.

ya, I had a feeling everyone would disregard the polk subs seeing as there are much better ones out there.

id say my budget is around $300 US total (i know this may seem low but I live in Canada and $300 US can escalate quite quickly these days in Canadian dollars when all is said and done )

There are a few to choose from, but if you are dead set on Polk (I luv my Polks, but there are many other subs to get even more bang for the buck. i.e. eD A2-300 is around $350, excellent deal if you can wait to get it). However, I know the PSW110, PSW111 or PSW125 are good Polk subs. I have 2PSW10's. Got them for $99 each on NewEgg (I think they are $119 now). My set-up/room acoustics required 2 subs, but I would recommend 1 really good sub, as it would easily do the same that my 2 sub set-up can.

eD subs, Hsu or SVS if you can stretch your budget just a bit more. If not, BIC or PA-120 or Acoustic Audio.

(Just to aggravate people ) Why don't you look at the A2-300? It is still considered the best subwoofer in its range and is $350 shipped, I believe this also applies to Canada.

Aramis suggested 5 different manufacturers in post #5. You can even get some reviews for each company by going to the subwoofer section of the forum. You won't get an SVS for $300, but that's what I would recommend. If you can't stretch the budget, there are lots of people that are very happy with the new Acoustic Audio subs.

+1....this what I did, and it is worth thinking about if you want a PSW-10.

You would prob be looking at around $400-450. I would look to calling eD soon about a quote because they will be raising the price on the sub too $400 in the second week of may. So if you would like to purchase one and are still on the fence about it, you better act sooner or later because like I said, they're raising the price. Not to mention, their production on orders seems to be growing exponentially..thus you're looking at longer waits on the HT subs. The good thing, I've never seen such an impressive build quality on any sub at it's price range. It's build like a tank, and to a degree, handmade. Where not talking big box retailer production here. Customer service is top notch, and my whole experience from ordering was enjoyable. I will be ordering from them in the future.. not to mention, the wait for the sub is worth it. It was worth the long wait and has a great price : performance ratio.
