Default Receiver Help

is it possible to just run through your receiver without running your speakers? im in the middle of building my HT and im not quite ready for the speakers to be put up, but i wanted to get my receiver somewhat hooked up, so i could at least watch some tv if i dont get finished. if i just hook up the cables as normal and run hdmi from receiver to tv, will the sound come through the tv?

Your TV & or receiver should have a setting that allows you to turn the TV speakers on or off.

I would think your fronts would be better than any TV speakers...but what kind of fronts are we talking about?

Just means you can hook up 2 pairs of speakers and listen to whichever one (A or B) you want.

i know that this isnt even being considered right now or anything since 7.1 is just taking off, but would that be potential for a 9.1 setup?

and also, what is the switch on the back of the receiver that says speaker C on or off?? what is speaker C?

try checking this out. has lots of info on your receiver:

http://us.marantz.com/SR6003_U_EN.pdf

http://us.marantz.com/SR6003_Spec_sheet_11182008.pdf

specs say something about 3 zones. i would say speaker c is zone 3. but some receivers will give you a zone while taking away from the main listening area. like mine, i have 7.1 but if i were to use zone b for stereo, i would only be able to run 5.1 in the main area.
