Default Newbie question

first of all, hello everyone, im new to the forums, my name is Matt and im from Canada.

now, let me get to the point...
I bought a new Samsung HDTV and home theatre system last week, and i have a question.
here is the TV: http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/d...LN46A750R1FXZC

and here is the Home theatre system: http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/d...HT-AS720ST/XAC

and i have a BD player samsung BD-P1600: http://www.hdtvlounge.net/blu-ray/samsung-bdp1600/

now, here is my question:

I connected the BD player through HDMI (monster cable) to my HT amp (AMP= Home theatre thing, where you change the settings etc, sorry, im a newbie, WITH a bad english ), and the amp is also connected to my HDTV through HDMI cable (also monster cable)

the problems is, when im watching movies, it says the resolutions is 1080i. shoudnt it be 1080p? (the movie was The dark knight)

of so, how can i fix this?

thank you in advance for your help, and have a good day/night

IF THIS IS THE WRONG SECTION, I AM SORRY, BUT COULD A MOD KINDLY PUT THE TOPIC IN THE RIGHT SECTION? THANK YOU
