Default Samsung LCD with HDMI stupid question

Ok, so i have a really stupid question but I haven't figured it out.

I just got a Bell TV HD Satellite receiver hooked up to my Samsung LCD via HDMI. The problem I have is when i change channels my TV says "No signal detected" and the screen goes blue (this is normal when there is no signal) then a second later the screen comes back. The same happens with my PS3 when it loads a movie, it goes from dashboard to blue screen then to the movie. Which doesn't bother me but the satellite thing does bother me. I don't want to see a blue screen everytime i change channels. My brother has a samsung LCD and same Bell freceiver and his doesn't do this, any thoughts?

First, have you checked the settings with the satellite box? Also, I have a Sammy LCD, and sometimes I get the no signal detected thing when I switch to blu-ray as well (however not with changing channels as is your case), and I know it has something to do with the inputs and the way it is set-up on my Harmony remote due to the way Samsung's funky input menu works.

there are no options in the satellite except for HDTV output settings 720p or 1080i thats it... My brother checked his and his has the same settings. Different model TV.. otherwise i'll just suffer with component i guess

only setting is output type 720p/1080i/ tv aspect ratio 4:3/16:9. What type of setting would you be thinking of? I have never seen any other settings.. including our Cable TV boxes only have output resolution options 720p/1080i i have never seen any other settings

the box is Bell HD 6131 which is Echostar/Dishnetwork receiver

TV is samsung LCD (forget model) but most samsung LCD tvs appear similar in settings, check my HT Gallery for the pic of the TV

HDCP- dunno, as it does the same thing with my PS3 when loading from dashboard to movie..... but with the satellite it's bugging me big time

I'll look up this model, as I have DirecTv and I am not familiar with Dish boxes, and I'll get back to you with some info, I hope.

I was reading in some other forum about someone else having a similiar problem with their 6131, and he was told to do a hard reset (unplug the box for at least 10 seconds) and to also disconnect the cable to the dish. he said this fixed his problem. I do not know if you tried this already, but you could try?

Also, do you know if you have the latest downloaded update (firmware?) for the box?

Here is the website page i was reading if you are interested....

I read thru that link and they don't mention blue screen when changing channels. they are talking about some green pixelation issue that has been corrected with latest firmware

so i'm still stumped

Your users manual says you should be getting some kind of error message # (anywhere from 1 to 93). So you are not even getting this error message # either?

Also, do you have this problem when changing channels when you select a channel thru the guide or when you channel up or down only?

Error message?? Never heard of that but why would i be gettring an error message

Both channel up/down and guide. With Satellite and DTV when selecting a channel (up/down or via guide) the receiver/STB has to tune into the QAM Frequency that is carrying the requested channel which is why you have a black screen for 1-2 seconds before the picture appears which is normal. When i do it my samsung lcd shows the blue screen with no signal for those 1-2 seconds when it shouldn't. It should still have a signal from the receiver during this process as the receiver is tuning but still outputting so this is wierd. I've googled and can't find anyone else having this problem.

I've read as much as I could on your box, and I must say the only conclusion I can come up with is that it is a handshake issue between the box and the Samsung. Try your brothers box at your house since it works fine at his home with his Sammy and see if you get the same problem you have had, if the same blue screen appears, then maybe it is your HDMI cable. If the problem goes away, more than likely it is the box.

It sounds to me like this is more of an issue with the specific TV. I have seen other TVs do this, whenever you change the source (even if it is the channel), it thinks it loses the signal and gives you the error message but as soon as it sees a signal again it comes back. Unless there is a setting in the TV itself that lets you turn off this warning, then I doubt there is much you can do about it.
Good luck with whatever you do.

Is the dish properly oriented to the satelite? Maybe the tuner is having problems because the dish isn't tuned. Or maybe it is a bad cable or connection from the dish to the tuner? Just throwing out some things here. I've had a lot of "problems" that I've spent a lot of time dealing with only to find that it was a loose or unplugged cable.

That does stink, as I have my cables run thru the wall as well, but I thought of running an extra cable (and speaker wire) that is not used but will be there for whenever a situation like this arises. Thus no need to try to rerun a new cable thru the wall.

Do you know what model # you have? I have a DirecTv box and a Sammy and I do not have this issue....just makes me wonder if there might be some other issue.....perhaps a setting on the TV....I know I am grasping at straws, but just trying to help.....
