Digital Copies... region locked? - Blu-ray Forum

just a quick question... i bought gran torino (canadian version) as i didnt want to wait til the end of june for the UK release...

havnt tried yet but will i be able to avail of the digital copy included (im in ireland) or are they, for want of a better description, region locked?

I dont believe their are locked, its just goes through iTunes or Windows Media player. It shouldnt matter what the region code is. But I am not 100% positive, try it though. If it wont work, you'll get a error message.

sorry, what i meant was will i be able to get the digital copy as its from a candian release.... the leaflet inside seems to say USA and Canada only.

MHhmmmm, I dont know. Sorry. But do you have the D.C. on you? If so, try and redeem it.

ok seems to be transferring fine...

when i put in the disc i was asked to select my country, it only offered USA Canada and Mexico as options so i just chose USA and its working... happy days!

No region locking on them. Windows Media will pretty much work in any country, just pick US or Canada. iTunes is different since the DRM will be tied to the iTunes account used to redeem the copy.

Sadly, Apple will not allow cross country accounts. I tried to create an Austraian iTunes account so i could buy some music from Australia but it was no go. Apple bounced me and said that I had to use the US store.
