Default How did your family react to a BD movie the first time they saw it?

I'm waiting on my new Kuro KRP-600M. My family has never seen a BD movie and I'm wondering what I can expect out of their reaction. I know the experience they will get and I feel like Santa Claus and I am DYING to get this HT finished for them.

When you guys got your first BD player, movie and HDTV...what was your family's reaction to the quality of the movie? My family has only seen these in BestBuy and Costco.

My mom and sister didn't care, but I was blown away by Iron Man. The beautiful vistas were amazing.

I've just gotten "I can't tell the difference" or the "quality doesn't justify the price"

Both of which leave me baffled.

My wife was like, "I guess it's better, Honey."
Her son was in sheer astonishment the whole movie (Cars). He kept saying things like, "Wow, look at how much detail you can see", "The picture's so sharp", "The colors are so much more vibrant", "Damn!", "Oh my God!", etc...
As for myself, the difference is nearly like night and day. Even the credits are more enjoyable on Blu.

It varies between "that looks amazing" to "its so good it's weird." --Probably referring to the the smooth motion. They got used to it and are now spoiled with the sound as well. When they watch "normal" set-ups or even go to the movie theater they always mention that they prefer my system.

A buddy came over and watched a movie and freaked out. A few days later he brought his wife over to "audition" the gear (and get her motivated to start one of their own.) -- They are now taking my advice on how to get started.

And this is with (what I consider and refer to as) a 1st level system.

The entire family watched The Dark Knight on Christmas day and the reactions were varied: "Wow look at that picture!" "It's pretty good" "It doesn't look different than a DVD" etc etc.

My wife is indifferent. She really enjoyed Wall-E and Ratatouille though. That buttered her up.
