You might want to follow "Fright Night Part II" thread on Germany board. Somebody there ordered copy from Spain but have not received it yet.
I would assume subtitles can be turned off because there is also option of English subtitles. But better wait reports from users who actually have the disc. Then there is also question if Spanish edition will have correct stereo audio unlike the first German edition. |

I said it in the German thread and I'll say it again here, this disc looks like a bootleg to me:

OK my Amazon.es shipment came in, I literally just threw the disc on so here are some very quick thoughts (without having watched it all the way through):
It's a pressed disc English audio is mono (DTS MA 2.0), so it could well be a "port" of the German transfer Subtitles aren't turned on Region-free Transfer looks decent, BD-25 with AVC bit-rate in the low-mid 20s. Only extra is the trailer, which looks like it was ripped off Youtube For roughly $10+, seems to be passable outside of the audio -- will do until something better comes along. Got mine today. Definitely a pressed disc. I still don't know whether it's official or a bootleg, but it's significantly cheaper than the German disc so I'm happy until something better comes along. I won't retire my pan and scan DVD-R off-air just yet though, as it has the stereo audio.

I received my copy over the weekend. I was worried at first, because after the blood red warning appears, the movie would just go back to my player menu. I have a 3D player in my living room. I was thinking I had a defective disc. I went up to my bedroom and slipped the disc in and it played fine.
BTW, the picture is beautiful. It looks awesome and it's in it's original aspect ratio. |

I got this one a few weeks back. As previously said the sound is unfortunately mono. I spent a lot of time with this movie the past two weeks as I ripped the audio from the laserdisc to decode it in surround (it's Ultra Stereo), and although I was aware of the risk of it being mono, it was not really an issue since I could also include the undecoded stereo from my rip. However, the worst part is that there are at least four encoding errors (@Behemot: did it freeze in the staircase scene with Regine and Peter, and also when Peter arrives at the loony bin? That might explain it). I'll end up buying the German edition anyway, which hopefully doesn't have these encoding issues.

2. The German is confirmed mono, and though 84 Entertainment ran a replacement campaign (for only two weeks!) in the end of August, I was unable to buy it by then and now they would refuse to replace it. Go to Amazon.de and check the first post, it's from a US buyer (using a machine translator) who thought he'd get a correct disc by buying it in December, thinking Amazon would have replaced them buy then. No cigar! Even Amazon doesn't give a fig. 3. I'm not rich so I preferred to chance the Spanish one which might have been stereo. Would 84 Entertainment or Amazon be honest to their customers I would of course have bought the official one, but given the high price it was too much a risk. I lost to the Spanish one, but not a lot. 4. When some companies will stop taking their customers for idiots then perhaps bootlegs/piracy will disappear. So I ordered the Blu-Ray from Amazon from Spain for the German one was out of print. Got it and popped it in my Blu-Ray. It plays the warning and then stops and goes back to the player's menu. It does this in all players except my PlayStation 4. It claims to be Region Free but I'm starting to doubt this. My PS4 is region free so I at least got to see how nice it looked and sounded.
Anyone else have this problem, found a solution to it to get it to play in their players? Is this a disc issue or any info would be helpful. |

No one responded to you and I've been wondering about these discs too, as I've had playback issues as well... but now I have a little info to pass on. I ordered a copy of the 2016 blu-ray release of Fright Night Part 2 (1988) from the Amazon Spain site as well, back in 2017 - the decision came after Amazon's partner blu-ray.com had listed this as region free. My Sony blu-ray players wouldn't play anything but the copyright, too, so I contacted Amazon (U.S.) instead of dealing with their Spain site. They assisted in getting another copy for me - and that one wouldn't play either. Given all the evidence that this may be listed wrong, Amazon (U.S.) assisted me in obtaining a refund instead of going through all the BS of sending both back to Spain. In the last year, I've ordered several Sony 4k players and had issues with ALL of them. Amazon allowed me to exchange units and eventually a refund and I gave up on searching for a decent low end 4k player for a while. Several months ago as I grew sick and tired of looking at the 4k discs I purchased during the holiday sales, I finally found a mid level priced 4k player that didn't give me too many issues (Panasonic). I don't have a PS 4 or any gaming system so I don't know what this disc will play on... until I recently found these discs and tried them on the Panasonic 4k player - they played. Sony has given me another reason to look elsewhere for players and the Panasonic 4k player didn't have an issue with this or other (Australia) DVD discs. I hope this helps you and others who may be looking at purchasing the Part 2 version of this movie, especially now as the original Fright Night movie is getting a 4k release on October 4, 2022 and may look at adding the Part 2 blu-ray to their collection. |
