I'm looking to upgrade from my Samsung DLP that I bought 3 years ago and am looking at these two models. I don't want to break the bank and both are priced around what I'm looking to spend. Anyone have any reviews of either product? Not too much in reviews out on the net right now, so I'll see what the forum has to offer. Thanks in advance!

I don't think I've seen reviews on either. The Sammy I'm sure is nice, but the better model would be a 6 series. Its my understanding that the black level difference is pretty big between those models and its just an overall better set. As for the LG, I don't know. I have last year's model, and it performs well, but I know it doesn't compete with the Sammy 6 series. On the other hand newer LG models have improved black levels, but how much I don't know. Your best bet is to go to Worst..eh..hum, Best Buy and try to compare them and see which you prefer. What is your budget by the way? There are other options in this price range. I've seen quite a few excellent deals floating around online on LCD's in this price range. Are you settled on LCD by the way? If not you can get an excellent Panasonic plasma in this price range that will better than both of those TV's.

I own a 40 inch B530 series and I love it..Good black levels, Great value for the price, and your getting
Dynamic Contrast 60.000:1 (not that it means much) Response Time 6ms and 1080p Go find one set up and take a look, make sure to either adjust the picture settings yourself or have them do it so you can really see what it will look like. I would also take into account the overall consumer ratings of both TV’s (based on brand/warranty etc…) and factor that into it. I have never owned an LG so I can’t comment on that television. |

I know you've dedicated yourself to pointing that out as you've stated this in many threads. Its unfortunate that you had such a bad experience with their customer service. Since this issue has been brought up I will also point out that Samsung has bad customer service too. You'll find plenty of horror stories throughout the forums. If you want excellent customer service look towards Sony as they take very good care of the customers. They are more expensive, but they have a low failure rate with their products and they resolve issues promptly and without hassle when problems do arise. Panasonic is also good in this regard.

If/when I purchase my projector and I've got it narrowed down to a few choices, I only hope people come forward and tell me of there negative experiences if they exist. That's just me though. ![]() |

I think both companies make fantastic products, but there is always a chance that a defective product will hit the shelves no matter what company makes it. I've even read some comments on Best Buy's site regarding bad Pioneer sets. It happens. The thing is a good company will stand behind its product and fix the problem promptly. Sometimes its worth spending the extra money on a company who's track record is better in this regard which is why I personally avoid Samsung. I've had a good experience with my LG, but I'd think twice about buying another based on your experience. LG TV's have a low failure rate according to the PC World survey, but what if I ended up with a bad one? From your experience alone I would be a little more cautious, and I've read so many bad things about Samsung's service that I would probably never buy one. I don't want to get burned by a company and I don't want to see it happen to others either. No one has money to just flush down the toilet. Even Bill Gates doesn't just waste his money. He buys clothes at Walmart for crying out loud. |
