When I got this game, I wasn't really interested in the online matches. But now, I really wanna see what I can do against human opponents. The problem is I can get into the lobbies but everytime I try to start a game with someone, I get an error message. I heard I might have to open ports on my router. If that's the case, how do I do this?

Go to your routers settings page (usually http://192.168.0.1/) and forward these ports:
TCP: 80, 443, 5223 UDP: 3478, 3479, 3658 If you don't know how, post the make and model of router and I'll try to help. You can also place the PS3 in the DMZ and not worry about forwarding ports. |

Be very careful about placing devices in the DMZ. Your PS3 should be fine, I doubt hackers have started producing viruses for it, but once you place a device on your network into a DMZ you free it from the firewall's protection. Just wanted to point that out.
I take a very conservative view towards network security (its my job) but the PS3 would hardly be a target I would think. M$ products are the main target. |

![]() DMZ (demilitarized zone) In a nutshell refers to telling a router to not include the rules of the firewall to that specific device. It allows all traffic to flow directly to that device, in this case the PS3, without any monitoring. If a virus, ip flood, dns attack, etc, were to attack your network, that device would be vulnerable. You need to go to your router's settings and look for DMZ settings. This is usually in the advanced routing section. If you can get me your router model name I would be able to help you further. We probably need to change this thread name to something else.........i.e. Router settings or something. |

Ok, my router is a Belkin wireless G, model # F5D7230-4, 54 Mbps and 2.4 Ghz (I don't know if I really need to mention all this). Is there still someone who can help me about forwarding these ports thing? I'd rather not put my PS3 in the DMZ if it leaves it vulnerable.
