A Fistful of Dollars (region free Italian release)

I happened across the DVDBeaver review of this title, and instantly had to have it:

Well I got it in the mail today. The case is DVD-sized, but it is very attractive, and there are all kinds of interesting things inside (though in Italian, so I can't read them, but they sure look nice).

The disc itself is wonderful. I guess a major restoration was just done on the movie, and the results were used for this Blu-ray release, and it is a thing of beauty - you'd never guess that this is a movie from 1964. The encode also seems rock-solid - high 30's every time I happened to check, and I encountered no EE/DNR/macroblock issues.

The audio is also great - there's a lossless 5.1 Italian track (Italian is technically the original language of this film, though it is still dubbed), and there are also the original Italian and English mono tracks. There are optional English and Italian subtitles as well, so you can watch this pretty much any way you like.

The only downside is that all of the extras except the HD trailer are in PAL SD format, so I'm unable to play them on my US PS3. But that's a small loss considering everything else this disc offers (at least to me, I'm not huge on extras).

Very happy to have this be a part of my collection. I only wish I also had For A Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly! There IS an Italian BD release of For A Few Dollars More, but it's by a different studio, and it doesn't look like it's region free nor contains English subtitles.

I'm thinking about importing it also, but the lack of french subtitles is annoying for me if I want to watch the movie with friends that don't read english very well

Thanks to neo reloaded for the tip, i'll will import it. I don't need english subs, and i can't wait to see the gorgeous pictures of a sergio leone movie in 1080p.
