For whatever reason it seems that the biggest gaps in my blu-ray collection come from titles that Lionsgate and Paramount put out.
Lionsgate doesn't seem to license out their films and Paramount is pretty weird with other companies like Kino in only allowing to release films that Paramount never released on DVD. I want to see Ghost Dog, The Dead Zone, Narc, I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, The Punisher, Gods and Monsters, etc get a release, but who knows what's going on. Does anyone think that there might be a chance that these companies will get their act together, or are we out of luck? |

Lionsgate is releasing films slllllooooowwwwllllyyy so it's conceivable that with time you may get what you want from them. Paramount is a whole other problem however but I remain hopeful that eventually someone may finally crack that nut and get access to those titles. In the mean time start looking to Australia to import a few of the films you mentioned in Region A friendly editions.

Paramount has been notoriously stingy with their catalog but they just announced MacGyver Season 1 for Blu-ray release so this gives me hope that something is afoot at the studio. This is the studio that stopped further seasons of I Love Lucy on BD after two seasons, a hugely popular series, so this announcement sort of comes as a shock. We'll just have to see what else comes down the pipe (if anything). Lionsgate is tougher to figure out. Their Vestron line was a nice idea but it seems to have fizzled out. They only seem interested in expanding their portfolio so they look good on Wall Street. Definitely not the kind of people you'd want running a film studio if you ask me.

Vudu has an HD version of Dragonslayer, so it must exist. Come on, Paramount! It’s too much to hope we’ll ever get Face/Off with lossless audio.

Honestly I find Paramount just perplexing. Several years ago they were licensing everything to Warner Brothers, and now they are hoarding but releasing very little...

I think I read they stopped Lucy because they were doing hugely expensive new scans from the original camera negatives, since it was the first TV show shot on film. Apparently the BDs, which had exorbitantly high prices, didn't sell well enough to justify further seasons, talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Paramount has made laughably bad decisions over the last 5 years in most areas of their company.

They are the same company who refuses to go with Movies Anywhere and pulled there channels off of most streaming services to concentrate on traditional cable. Logic and Paramount don't go together

At least Lionsgate makes somewhat of an effort to release their films. Especially with the Vestron line. Paramount, on the other hand, I have no clue what the heck they're doing.

Iron Eagle is with Sony so possibly ether a Choice BD-R, Mill Creek pressed disc, or a Shout Select with some extras in the near future.
Iron Eagle II and III: Aces are StudioCanal with Lionsgate handling their distribution, and IV is Lionsgate inherited from Artisan/Trimark as well. Since LG hasn't done much with physical catalog titles nor released much of SC's catalog lately aside T2, then you're gonna be in a for quite a wait. |
