Default Best 32-inch 1080p LCD under $700

My parents want a 32-inch LCD for their bedroom, and I've found some deals. It seems that such a TV by Samsung or Sony doesn't exist for under $700. Which is the better of the following two deals?

JVC LT-32P300 for $589 at Buy.com
Sharp LC32E67U for $669 at Amazon.com

Which brand offers the better combination of PQ/reliability? I would also like to factor in the quality of delivery. Has anyone purchased a TV from Buy.com? We've bought computers and other electronics from them, but never TVs.

For a 32" tv, you'd be best to get a 720p or 768 native tv. They will display 1080 no problem, but you'd have to sit EXTREMELY close to see the benefits of 1080. From a bed, they'd be seeing it at 720 resolution at best. That might help to expand things a bit.

edit:
For research purposes, this link should help some. you can find them for less elsewhere, but for models and info, its a good site

I've heard good stories about Sharp's LCDs. I never bought TVs from Buy.com before, but they seem reliable. IMO, Sharp is better. I didn't even know that JVC made TVs.

Yeah just get a 720p HDTV for a 32 incher. Even at 40" 1080p benefits are questionable. It's at around the 46"+ mark that it makes a difference to get the additional resolution.

Go to Costco. I've seen Sony and Samsung 32" TV's there for great prices.

I also agree that 720p is all you really need in this size set unless you can find a deal in a 1080p.

Lastly, with the fear of being bashed......look at Vizio at Costco. I have a 32" Vizio 720p that I bought almost three years ago that has been really good in the bedroom. It was with great trepidation that I bought it being I've always owned Sony TV's, but I gave it a shot because the comparable Sony at the time was $1050 on sale. We use it everyday with no issues. Calibrated using Digital Video Essentials Blu-ray disc and the picture is really very good. I paid $700 for this and the same set can now be had for $450 or less. Vizio also makes a 1080p in this size for $550.

My mom is kind of fixated on getting a 1080p TV if possible, no matter the screen size. I kept telling her what I've learned and what you guys have written, but she really wants the best resolution possible for a 32-inch LCD.

We ended up getting a Sammy LN22B460 for the kitchen, since we both had TVs on our minds.

See if you can find a Sony XBR6. Great TV and I got mine for $700 before tax. Vizio makes some good 32" 1080p sets under $600 too.

Well, since my mom liked the 22" Samsung so much, we went ahead and purchased a Sony KDL-32L5000 at Walmart. We saw it on display, and it simply looked amazing- PQ, bezel, everything. My mom wanted a Sony, but she wasn't willing to pay the $200-$250 more for 1080p.

(BTW, this weekend is the first time my mom has seen Blu-ray. We just watched Celine Dion last night. Spectacular. )

I know you already made your purchase, but I just wanted to inform you of JVC's TV's for future reference. They do not have the best black level, but they excel in other areas. They are known for their excellent video processing and color accuracy. They make very good LCD's. You can't go wrong with Sony either so your mother should get much enjoyment out of that set.
