Default Best Blu Ray player PQ

Which Blu Ray player has the best PQ. I think they all look the same. The only thing that differentiates are displays but thats displays.

There are so many variables involved that, arguably, at the entry level of current players, they will all look pretty much the same.

Once you start getting into the higher-end, there may be a slight increase in picture quality, but the price increase is probably due to added features and gadgets on the players, and maybe even name brand itself.

But for all practical purposes, at the entry level, Panasonic's DMP-BD60 is your best bet.

I agree that the best value for a blu ray player right now is the Panasonic BD60 if you price hunt. I'm talking about PQ, I have seen alot of Blu ray players, not all. I have seen high end low end & they all look the same to me.

JJ,
Define "higher-end"? Or at least, at what price point do you start saying that a BDP is Higher-end?

most will say that all blu ray players have equal pq, and i agree. What makes the higher end players and improvment are 1) the quality of their audio components, mots notably the DAC's, 2) Their dvd upconversion abalities. Sonys' flagship player the 5000es however has some sort of video manipulaion for blu ray playback which is supposed to improve pq somewhat. Im not very familiar with the technology though, and to be honest i dont want the player to manipulate the picture

Default Blu-ray Player's l Picture Quality Differences

Hello

I have personally compared almost thirty players now; they were all quite different in picture quality.

I only mention this, responding to the thread question.

In my experience, unless you have a high quality display, the differences may or may not be obvious. High Quality Displays, Professionally Calibrated, are a fundamental requirement to determining player picture quality differences.

Regardless, your own display and your own interest, are all that really matters to most.

But, realize, that there are significant differences in players; both picture quality and sound quality.

Thank You

The one that really make a difference in BD PQ is the tv.

So...in your opinion, which model or models are the best Blu-ray players?

With what he stated. With my pioneer elite 1080p set, calibrated and all. Tested 3 blue-ray players. Sony 330, Pioneer Elite 94, & Denon 2500btci. Best picture quality goes to the Denon in my eyes.

...and the reason I asked which model or models were the best, was because I need another player. I have a PS3 and I use it with my media room. I am going to get a Plasma to replace my DLP in the living room and I want to get another Blu-ray player. The issue is that every site, including CNN Money, rates the PS3 as the best Blu-ray player. I just don't want two of them and my wife has issues turning off my existing PS3 as it is.

I think the PS3 has the quickest load time of all the Blu-Ray players out there. As far as comparable PQ, I always figured it had more to do with your HDTV setup and how you have it calibrated
