Both of the X Files films are on blu-ray, however, the show is not and does not have a release date currently.

This is a real shame.

Here are some of the shows I would like to see on BD:

X-Files
Seinfeld
Deadwood
M*A*S*H
The Wire

MASH has the best chance of coming to BD as it has already been remastered for HD.

So has Seinfeld (albeit in an "approved" 16:9 re-framing)

It would probably cost Fox a fortune to remaster all nine seasons.

And after the last movie bombed, Fox is probably reluctant to spend the money.

I was wondering this myself as the complete series boxset is currently on sale on DVD for £66. I'd much prefer it on BD, but if there are no plans to release it then I may pick myself up a DVD bargain.......

Unless the original film was rescanned in HD, I don't think the first 5 or 6 seasons would look any better on BD.

I'm a huge X-Files fan by the way, I'm just wondering if Fox would spend tons of money rescanning the original film for BD.

I'd love to see it, but I spent a ton on the season box sets when they were originally released on DVD. I don't know if I really want to replace them all, considering I'm not going to be able to sell the DVDs for that much and because the blu's are likely to be very expensive.

Same here I got all the original multi-disc sets, most of them were on sale but still. Seeing as how the first seasons were in SD up to 5 I don't know how well they would look in HD.

Well, the assumption is that any blu-ray release would include newly created hi-def masters, transferred from the original 35mm elements. This may involve re-doing some of the special effects that were originally created in standard def, however.
